Mrs. Naomi Nichols

1st & 2nd Grade

"My love for children and teaching developed in my late teen years through teaching opportunities at my
church and through training from Child Evangelism Fellowship of Eastern PA. For several years, I was a CEF summer missionary for Northumberland County where I grew up. I taught 5-Day clubs and counseled at camp. I earned my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at Pensacola Christian College in Florida. My first
teaching job following college was at Mifflin County Christian Academy in McClure. There, I taught elementary grades for three years. The past seven years I have spent in North Carolina with my husband teaching part-time and full-time as an ESL teacher and as a reading intervention teacher at various
public schools. Our desire to be closer to our families in Pennsylvania and to teach at a Christian school brought us to Heritage Christian School. When I am not teaching or planning, I enjoy taking walks with my husband and our dogs. I like to read Christian biographies, bake, knit, ski, and spend time with family
and friends.

After having taught in public schools for several years, I saw the need to instruct children in Godly living along with their academic studies. I am concerned how young people are turning away from Godly upbringing and choosing a world view contrary to the Bible. This is my first year at Heritage Christian School. In the past, I have mostly taught fifth grade and I especially enjoyed teaching science. I attended Zion Bible where I earned my Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies. Later on, I earned my Master’s in Elementary Education. I grew up in New Cumberland, PA, but my wife and I have also lived seven years in North Carolina. Some of my hobbies include hiking, skiing, walking our dogs, gardening, doing projects around the home, and watching old TV shows."
